Though I can’t see Him, He is always there.

A glimpse into what has been happening in my life over the last couple of months…

1 Peter 5:7 “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” (NLT)

The sun rose right on time, and up I got.

The brightness would not let me sleep any longer,

So off I went to start the day.

Today’s going to be a great day, I said to myself.

Then a little cloud covered the sun,

And I could feel the same little cloud envelop my soul.

It covered up the happiness slowly and surely,

Until I was where I had been the night before.

All I could see was darkness.

I could not see the Lord.

At this point, there was no way I would believe that

Though I can’t see Him, He is always there.

Psalm 34:18 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.” (NLT)

Life went on, and the day went on.

I went out, did what I had to do, and went back home.

The darkness was my constant companion,

Reminding me that though I believed in God,

I could not see Him.

You see, I believed that my faith in the Lord would keep me from feeling this way,

While in reality, it didn’t.

This realization made it so much harder to believe that,

Though I can’t see Him, He is always there.

As I reflected on the day that was about to end,

I asked myself why I could not see God,

Why it seemed like He had hidden Himself where I could not find Him.

I tried to push the cloud away so that I could see Him

But that didn’t work.

I tried to blink the cloud away by opening and closing my eyes,

But that didn’t work either.

Where was God? Why couldn’t I see Him?

Lord, where are you? Please show yourself to me!

I desperately need to see you.

Though I can’t see Him, He is always there.

Psalm 23:4 “Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.” (NLT)

Later, as I lay on my bed, I began to think about the day that had passed.

I had gone out and done my errands and tasks,

Without any mishaps or failures.

In fact, I had received favor everywhere I went!

I had food to eat, a place to sleep, and people who loved me.

Suddenly, an old friend called me,

Someone I had not talked to for a while,

And we talked for an hour.

When we were done, I felt so much better.

It was at that moment that it dawned on me,

That phone call was no coincidence.

God planned it.

It was His way of dispelling the darkness,

Reminding me that He cared,

And reassuring me of His presence.

I learnt a lesson that day, a huge lesson.

And here it is.

Though I can’t see Him, He is always there.

Zephaniah 3:17 “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” (NIV)

Dear friends, are you feeling lonely today, and like there is a cloud between you and the Lord, a cloud that makes you feel like He is not there? Be encouraged today; the Lord is right beside you, walking with you, comforting you and encouraging you. If you know anyone who may need to read this poem, please share it with them. Blessings!
