The Word of the Lord does so much more than we can imagine!
I didn’t want to read the Bible, I really didn’t.
I had just woken up, and I felt really tired.
To make matters worse, I had overslept.
The last thing on my mind was opening the Bible,
And struggling to read what was written.
But I opened it anyway.
And the Words I read became alive in my soul,
Replacing the fatigue with new strength,
Refreshing my soul and spirit.
I felt new. I felt ready.
I had certainly underestimated,
The Power of the Word.
Psalm 19:7a “The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul.” (NIV)
I stepped confidently out of the house,
Ready to face the day ahead.
Only to remember what awaited me…
Decisions, decisions, and more decisions
Decisions that I had to make,
And make the right way.
Where would I get the wisdom I needed?
Then I remembered the words I had read in the morning,
And I realized that they fitted perfectly into what lay ahead that day.
I felt wiser now, and I knew the Word was the most trustworthy guide I had.
The Power of the Word came through for me,
By giving me wisdom that could be trusted,
In the midst of my simple-mindedness and confusion.
Psalm 19:7b “The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.” (NIV)
As the day wore on, I was faced with a particularly interesting situation.
One that made me question my values,
One that made me think hard about my beliefs.
I had to make a decision, though.
Which side would I lean towards?
The right, or the wrong?
Then I remembered once again,
That my guide book, the Bible, had all the answers.
As I consulted my precious book, I found my answer.
I knew what to do, and my heart was at peace.
I was filled with joy knowing that I had made the right decision,
Thanks to the Power of the Word.
Psalm 19:8a “The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart.” (NIV)
I sat down that evening and thought about the day that had passed.
I needed refreshment, and I got it.
I needed wisdom, and I found it in the Word.
I needed joy and peace, and the Word was where I got it.
It was then that I realized,
That I had never quite understood the Power of the Word.
The Word that came from the Lord Himself.
The Word that contained commands,
Commands that were radiant enough to outshine everything around them,
Exposing all forms of darkness,
And helping me to see things more clearly.
Psalm 19:8b “The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.” (NIV)
Lord, I thank you for your Word.
I thank you that this Word refreshes my soul when I need it most.
I am grateful that Your Word gives me wisdom when I need clarity.
I am so glad that Your Word gives me joy in ways I cannot express.
Your Word makes me see everything more clearly than I ever would have.
Thank You, Lord,
For giving me the opportunity to experience,
The Power of the Word.
